A couple of weeks ago Katy preached a sermon on Acts 19: 1-20. This is when Paul is in Ephesus. Her sermon was excellent with lots of good points. However there was one that hit home: We should talk about God, and where we are with Him and what He is doing in our lives. We should share with everyone Christian and non-Christian. How can we expect to confidently share our belief in God with non-Chritians if we can't even talk about God with each other?
Last night I met with my homegroup. There was no study prepared. I thought it might be a good chance to really hear what's happening in each and every person's life, where they're at with God and what we need to be praying for, so I took control. It was a shaky start but everybody shared something. It was good to be honest, it was good to reveal our hurts and anxieties as well as our successes and hopes. It was good to feel connected to a group of people in a way much deeper than the 'hello how are you?' I found it enjoyable, and useful and refreshing and I thank God for the opportunity.

Han - I'm glad you took control and got some depth out of your homegroup.
I like reading your blog and hearing how your faith is developing and affecting your every day life. I can see how it must be hard to talk to non-christians about it though. Living with you and the rest of the 'mooses' though made me much more interested and tolerant of faith - if you can do that for me then surely talking to other people can't be that hard!
Shell - I am so gald you enjoy my blog. Maybe we could get all five mooses blogging and we would actually keep in touch! H x
This is a good plan, actually. We are doing a lent study right now, and our homegroup is still unruly. I might file this option for later use. I get so frustrated when all we talk is church politik....Sometimes that's the necessary thing (we all know that the real change happens in places like homegroups) but I so often realise how little I know my folk in the faith. That's why the journey I'm on with my friend Stuart is so exciting, because we're actually talking about REAL things and actual life in reference to faith. I don't have enough of that in my life these days and I miss it. Those things are what make you feel connected, that make you feel your faith is real and alive, that make you understand what it is to be living a life of faith (any faith, come to think of it) in this crazy world.
